I think this is interesting Reviewer:Ryan
from America December 2, 1999 I think this is interesting, and I tend to disagree with
some people on the reviews. It does seem authentic.
Fun Book Reviewer: A reader from

13, 1999 Oh I give this a five because I thought it was a great book full of fun
and new ideas. Of course we know that it is made up DUH! But it is WELL made up! That's
the point of books in this field isn't it? Besides if anyone can do it better then go
ahead. It IS America! I liked it Mr. B.
Surprised Reviewer: A reader from
Back In America June 21, 1999 Sorry, I just found all these sites today, for you Raymond
Buckland. I came into knowledge of Paganism through my family heritage and I used to read
some of your beginning works on Pagan traditions etc. I used to respect you as a Pagan and
a writer and you represented yourself to be such, to many people who knew you. I have been
out of touch with the new books from the states that you have been putting out until
recently. Returning to find what you have been writing is a bit of a shock. Anyone that
has learned to write in kindergarten might be able to sit down and make up spell book
after spell book. I can't believe you would even get this hokey. Those of us who once knew
you personally wish the best for you but also have stopped buying your books. Of course
you have enough now to survive nicely off all the royalties so I don't imagine it bothers
you one way or another if a reader looks for another author. Sorry but wishy washy and
hocus pocus is NOT what the Craft is about. WHAT has happened to you in the last couple
decades? I can't believe all these quick sell, magic spell, books.
Amazingly accurate candle spells for the
experienced. Reviewer: berith4686@aol.com from Pittston, P.A.
July 11, 1998 A truely wonderful
book full of candle spells to help you through your personal problems. Another reason why
this book is good, is because it provides the the knowhow on where to obtain the tools,
herbs, and color of candle to use on each particular spell. I dont reccomend such a book
for the unexperienced. try the 1st candle magic book first. Amazingly, every spell I've
tried so far in this book has worked. Even the ones not listed in the previous title.

In Candle Magick, J. E. Auer takes the reader through the history of magical candle
use in the West, explains the various systems of planets, hours, and astrological signs;
and discusses several directions that can be taken with oils, plants, carvings, and
working with the Tarot. Once this ground work is set, Auer then walks the reader through
several types of ritual, explaining why things are done, while detailing what actions
should be performed. Diagrams for eight different rituals are included to help the
beginner get started. Candle Magick is inspired by the neo-Pagan Earth religions, is ideal
for the novice beginner, and is a splendid addition to all metaphysical reference book
collections. The

Candle Magick
"CANDLE MAGICK: A GUIDE FOR THE NOVICE"
OPENS THE DOOR TO CREATIVE RITUAL Many people are developing an interest in the mystical
side of spirituality, from Angels to Tarot. One of the areas seeing explosive growth is
the Western Esoteric traditions of Magick, whether inspired by the neo-Pagan Earth
religions or the new Thelemic ritualism.
Finding an entree into practical magic can be intimidating for the novice searcher,
with more questions than answers coming from the array of possibilities available. A new
book by J.E. Auer, "Candle Magick: a Guide for the Novice", addresses this
problem by providing a clear, concise, and informative introduction to the magical use of
candles. Candle magic is a great place for the beginner to start, as the "tools"
of the practice are familiar, non-threatening, and widely available! However, candle work
is also extremely flexible, and can allow the learning magic worker to increase the
complexity of the rituals as they grow in experience (many long-time Magicians use candle
magic workings as their main "craft", due to this ease and flexibility).
In "Candle Magick: a Guide for the Novice", J.E. Auer takes the reader
through the history of magical candle use in the West, explains the various systems of
planets, hours, and astrological signs; and discusses several directions that can be taken

Disappointment Reviewer: A reader from

I have read a lot of books but this book seems to be nothing more than a put together
thing that tells nothng about how to really contact the Saints or use their help. I was
hoping for a book that would give me somethng to work with but this book did not.
Mumbo Gumbo Reviewer: A reader from
Baton Rouge,La. November 6, 1998
This book is an unfortunate patchwork of unoriginal approaches to very real human
problems. The author purports to be able to solve these problems with his crudely pieced
together prayers and rituals. As unimaginative and sentimental as the prayers cards he
copied, nothing in this book was original except the authors rearrangment of these tired,
old practices. Most, if not all, of them were not accurately copied. I found the author's
including Xeroxes of his Louisiana state "credentials" amusing; as if a state
document can give power to a spiritual work!
Magic is as Magic does! Reviewer: santavicca@emc.maricopa.edu
from Phoenix, AZ September 23, 1998
If you are looking for a how-to guide for calling upon the saints as your personal
allies, this book just might start you in the right direction. The author--whose
background includes Santeria, Wicca, spiritualism, voodoo and shamanism--introduces you to
74 different saints, and explains how you can reach them through ritual. The book opens
with a brief overview of saints and deities, including capsule identification of each
saint--such as name, feast day, weekday, emblem, color of candle, areas of protection and
association. In addition, an image of the saint is provided. Following this are general
discussions of the power of rituals and magic, and how these can assist you. However, the
majority of the book is given over to providing you with candle rituals and incantations
for 57 different situations, such as improving your marriage, attracting fortune, improving
your business, calming anger, conquering infidelity, obtaining spiritual strength, etc.
Each of the rituals includes appropriate references to the Psalms of the Bible, and other
key steps for success. Also included are a bibliography for further reading, and an index.
