a magical experience
Reviewer: A reader from Culiacán

It is hard to appreciate aura, if you read it just one time, but it was a great book the first time i read it. And after i read it twice, i found more magic in it, not only the strange happenings in the plot, that keeps you focused on the plot, or the culture carlos fuentes shows in this book, but the incredible detail he has.
I simply loved this book
![]() This book is full of mystery. The more you read, the more you want to keep reading. It's about being old and wanting to return to youth again, like Señora Consuelo was trying to do by "transforming" herself into her niece Aura. In order to really understand this book, one has to read it several times before you can get an idea of the essencial theme of the story. I loved the way Carlos Fuentes wrote this story, it's full of mystery and every aspect of the novel has a hidden message and meaning to it. This is an excellent book! |
![]() Aura is a story which can sometimes be confusing, and which has no basic purpose. In the story, Felipe Montero is searching for a job and finds one reading and correcting memoirs for Senora Consuelo. As the story progresses, Felipe discovers Aura, the niece of Senora Consuelo, and sleeps with her, only to later sleep with Senora Consuelo thinking her to be Aura. This is where the story ends, leaving the ending hanging and the readers with a feeling that the story is not complete. This book, though short, can be very confusing at times, does not seem to have any closure, and the fact that it does not seem to have a basic purpose makes this a novel that is not for everybody. |

Carlos Fuentes Aura was one of the most interesting books I have
read in a while. His writing is generally simple, but the plot of Aura is very intriguing
and detailed. The idea that Aura is the same person as her aunt Consuelo is easy to pick
out, but the fact that the reader does not know what strange event will happen next is
what makes Aura fun to read. The book is suspenseful and keeps the reader focused on the
relationships Aura has with both Felipe Montero and her aunt, Consuelo. Carlos Fuentes
combines strange events with everyday life such as when Felipe, Aura, and Consuelo are
sitting at the dinner table eating and the two ladies are simultaneously making the same
exact movements, which I found strangely interesting. Because I can understand basic
spanish, I found reading parts of the spanish side of Aura interesting and saw the small
differences between the spanish and english versions of the story. The book was generally
interesting in its own strange way and kept my full attention from cover to cover. I
would recommend Carlos Fuentes Aura to anyone who enjoys reading books with strange
events and twisted plots. |

Wow! That was my reaction after I read the story for a class in college.
Then, After only a month or so, we had to read "A Rose for Emily", by William
Faulkner. Both stories are very similar in their central idea. My favorite of the two?
Carlos Fuentes wins because he mastered the gothicism and the magical realism, and
ultimately created a delightful blend. Wonderful story for a rainy day. Maybe if we look
outside we will see a garden with burning felines...maybe not. |

Probably the best writing of Carlos Fuentes' prolific career, which now
spans 45 years, "Aura" is the author's hauntingly gripping tale of witchcraft
and literature in the context of inescapable love. Language is the true protagonist of
this novelette, in which the author-narrator Felipe Montero is lured into Mexican history
by a grotesque witch, Consuelo Llorente, an aged widow who employs exotic potions and
animal sacrifices to capture her prey. Contracted by Consuelo to put in order the papers of her deceased husband, Montero ends up reliving his life in subjugation to the exotic whims of the 109 year old widow. The story echoes the fate of "the publishing scoundrel" of Henry James's "The Aspern Papers" as well as that of Carlotta and Maximillian, the would-be emperors of Mexico enthroned by foreign powers in the 1860s. From the shadows of passion long past, Felipe and Consuelo die to be reborn to consummate their love for a brief moment. Lysander Kemp's translation captures the beauty of language in which the two characters
find love through artifice and deception. The irreality of their improbable passion,
tenderly rendered by the translator, only heightens the grotesque sacrifice Montero
willingly endures as he submits to destiny, in this case, the word. |

Carlos Fuentes should read Jules Vernes' The Castle in the Carpathians
and then, he recalled it when he wrote one of his masterpieces, Aura... Verne wrote about
fear to love and death with his positivist point of view; Fuentes wrote about the same
fear but his deep sense of mexican surrealismo... |

Aura Awareness includes information and photos demonstrating a new technology that can help healing practitioners measure subtle shifts in energy that appear in the aura. Known as Aura Imaging Photography, this technique produces a color print of the subject's upper body, surrouonded by clouds of colors Creator of the Aura Camera, Guy Coggins, says "The Aura Camera does not 'see' auras, rather it perceives them electronically, using a computer program to transform measured energy impulses into an auric image." Typically, the aura of a person in pain or discomfort will show a dark or muddy shade and appear close to the body. When the aura color shifts to the oppositee or complimentary color, the person has most likely experienced a dramatic change of healing.

Your Aura is Your Personal Universe
Your aura is the first place where you manifest your creations, before they become
physical in the "real world." It is your personal universe. As a clairvoyant,
when I look at your aura, I see rainbows of color and pictures of what you are creating in
your life. You can learn how to change the energy in your aura to start creating different
things in your life. Aura Awareness is a good place to start. We've included stories and
exercises from different intuitives to help you learn more about your own aura, and
experiment with seeing and feeling the energy around other people, too.

One Spirit Review, May 1997
Dedicated to the skeptical, the curious, and those who are "brilliant aura
readers but don't know it yet," this "clear, concise, enjoyable, readable,
comprehensive, informative and humorous" book (Earthlight!) identifies 11 subtle
senses that can be used for reading auras, and details such strategies as the auric
handshake and massage, the chakra probe, affirmations to open celestial perceptions, and a
mirror technique to perform past-life readings."
One Spirit Review, July 1997
This "clear, concise, enjoyable, readable, comprehensive, informative and
humorous" book (Earthlight!) identifies 11 subtle senses (like clairsentience and
emotional empathy) for reading auras.
Book Description
Auras are the level of angels, deep human secrets, the quality of consciousness known
as celestial perception. The purpose of this book is to help you move into a higher state
of consciousness, offering over 100 easy techniques to help you find your way. Let Rose
Rosetree teach you how to read auras at will, in depth and detail, transforming your
everyday life. The book contains six parts. WHY READ AURAS prepares you to move forward.
It explains that the single greatest benefit of reading auras may be the experience of otherness:
what makes a person distinctive at the level of the soul. Auras also contain information
about communication, health, sex, power, and more; things about a person that are
temporary, short-term problems, chronic difficulties. Don't settle for a vague feeling or
cliches about auras, warns the author. It takes techniques and exploration to develop your
gifts. None of this is difficult, and the rewards will amaze you. Part Two, DISCOVER THE
TRUTH ABOUT AURAS, contains the first explanation we've seen anywhere in print about 11
different subtle senses that you may have available to use for high-quality aura reading,
plus synesthesia, a gift everyone has. Rosetree also demolishes The Myth About Auras,
popular ideas that block higher perception for the majority of people. Part Three, ENGAGE
THE ENERGY, supplies beginner's techniques, complete with Q&A sections. If you haven't
already noticed the author's dry sense of humor and down-to-earth irreverence, you'll
really start enjoying it now. This section of the book presents material that the author
teaches in a couple of all-day seminars for which George Mason University gives Continuing
Education Credits. All by itself Part Three would be worth the price of the book, but
what's to come is even more amazing.... Part Four, EXPLORE CHAKRAS helps you to become an
expert on the anatomy of auras. It includes techniques for reading different energy
centers, including three Lie Detector Tests, a way to do Sexual Detective Work, and a
fascinating way to read How Enlightenment Shows. Forget the cliches you've heard about
Root Chakra is red and Throat Chakra is blue. This isn't the color-by-number school of
aura reading. Rosetree offers a method that helps you explore subtle energy in your own
way, not trying to match someone else's system but going for your own. Find the juice, the
surprises, the fun. So much information about people (including yourself) is stored in the
chakras. Part Five, READ AURAS FOR BETTER HEALTH, begins with the revolutionary idea that
ALL techniques for holistic health are reduced to gimmicks unless you use them with an
expanded consciousness. Aura reading gives you that extra zest. This will help you to
protect the health of your loved ones as well as yourself. Techniques in this chapter
include the most powerful ways of using affirmations you've ever tried, tips for using
aura reading as a parent, and mind-boggling insights into homeopathy, aromatherapy, music,
sex, and food. What's that, you didn't know food has an aura? It had better, as you'll
read, or you'd be better off not eating it. Some of the "food" available today
is like putting a black hole into your body. Rosetree also includes a technique for
upgrading the quality of energy in food. It's called "Doing Grace." As an aura
reader, you'll be able to find out for yourself what a difference it can make in the
quality of your food. Part Six, SAVE MONEY WITH THE AURA ADVANTAGE, shows how aura reading
can make you a better consumer. Ever buy a bouquet of roses that looks great in the store
but droops and dies after you bring it home? Rosetree explains a simple technique that
will keep you from ever making that mistake again. The section on reading auras when you
watch TV will give you the spiritual equivalent of 3-D entertainment. How can aura reading
help you at yard sales? Find out, and don't miss the insider's information about
subliminal tapes. This part of the book is loaded with provocative and original insights.
It proves Rosetree's point that aura reading isn't just for some specialized woo-woo
moments. You can use it in practical ways, to enhance your quality of life. Sure aura
reading is spiritual but it can also bring you more bang for your buck. To summarize, this
book contains techniques and understandings to help you find the world inside the world.
You can benefit in terms of everyday shopping, relationships with your loved ones, health,
sex... every aspect of life that matters to you. If you approach this book as a spiritual
seeker, you'll realize that Rosetree is guiding you to live a higher state of
consciousness in everyday life.

Rose Rosetree here does for aura reading. She provides helpful exercises, clues to finding

There are quite a number of books about aura reading available now, and
this one is the cream of the crop. I ought to know - I've read them all, and I've had
formal training in clairvoyant aura reading to boot. What makes this book soar above the
competition is the author's approach. Most other authors simply tell you how they read
auras, how auras look to them, and how they interpret information. They seem to assume
that everyone else's intuitive perceptions will match their own. But that's not the way
intuition works, and Rose Rosetree understands that. Instead of presenting a
one-size-fits-all method, she provides detailed descriptions of the many ways intuitive
information can be received. She helps you explore your own unique ways of knowing, and
helps you develop your own "inner dictionary" for interpreting the aura
information you receive. At the same time, she provides plenty of solid,
"de-mystified" information about the aura and chakra system. I think she has
struck the perfect balance between structured guidance and encouragement to "find out
for yourself." Reading the book, which is full of personal insights and Q&A
sections, really feels like attending a workshop with the author. She has a way of making
you feel like she's working with you personally through her writing. This book can
transform your understanding of aura reading (and psychic development in general). I
really can't recommend it highly enough. |

It's almost as if she's right there with you, teaching it in such a
simple and step by step way. Real and celestial perception is a by-product of higher
states of consciousness, empathy and love. Rose exemplifies that in her Being and in her
writing. It is practical, fun to read, and is user-friendly. Thus she makes learning this
skill easy and a joy. |

I was amazed that aura reading can be so simple. Rose Rosetree gives us
so many ways to read the auras of anyone we choose, including our pets and even how to
select the freshest rose at the florist. This book lays to rest many erroneous
preconceptions about what auras are, and thus opens to all of us the ability to explore
and utilize all the many paths and methods to aura reading described in Rose's book.
Presented with the light-hearted humor that is so much a part of Rose's personna. A gifted
teacher. |

There can be no doubt that we all have auras, which have been
seen for thousands of years, measured for 60 or so since Kirlian first did it in Russia,
and now seen with the naked eye. Humans just happen to have the most complex fields, and
that is why they change from moment to moment. Plants have them too, and they can be seen
as more subtle and stationary, until you put something like a magnet (or a glass of red
wine) near their field, and then you will see a change. Even inanimate objects have them,
but they are seen to be totally stationary, never changing. Science can now measure auras
as electro-magnetic energy that is outside the body. Some people who claim to be healers
can be measured exuding up to 80 Volts for several seconds at a time. These tests have
been conducted repeatedly at the Menniger Institute in Kansas, as well as The National
Institute of Health in Maryland, and no serious scientist who looks at the results can
question the veracity of these things. Do we know what this "energy" is totally?
No. Does that mean the energy, whatever it is, doesn't exist? No. It can also be felt!
What proved to me that seeing auras are not an optical illusion, was the fact that no two
human auras appeared the same. When the author gives demonstations at bookstores, I've
seen all types of different shapes, sizes, and intensities, as different people stood up
to be seen. Although I can't say I saw color as intensely as some people did, when I did
see a color, it was the same color as other people reported, and I came to that
determination before other people said anything. Since that time, there have been several
opportunities to see different people ( at church, in lectures, and at school) that have
helped strengthen this natural ability everybody seems to have. I've even taught my wife,
who was very skeptical at first, to see auras, and she sees colors much better now than I
do! This book is very well written, and the information contained within is the most clear
and concise on the subject that I'm aware of, and if you want to learn how to see the
aura, this is the best place to start. Highly recommended. |

Tried the 10 step aura seeing exercise. Saw something around the fringes
of my head and shoulders. I thought "Wow! Am I really seeing an aura?". I then
got the bright idea to try it with something dead. I used the technique on a pillow. Guess
what? The damn pillow had an "aura"! I rectum what you are seeing is a type of
negative effect. Look at something dark against a lighter background for a bit, the
swaying motion causes the effect. Plus, you are told what you are going to see in advance.
That's called suggestion. Simply put, auras DO NOT exist. All those tested have failed
miserably. The most sensitive scientific equipment in the world picks up nothing of the
sort but we are supposed to believe that our eyes can see it? And if they are THAT easy to
see, why has no one taken the one million bucks from James Randi? Please! if you are
seeing auras go to randi.org and sign up to be tested to get the dough. If you feel that
it is below you, give the money to charity. A million bucks could do a lot of good. |

What used to be thought of as optical illusion when I'd see
auras by chance, is now a common occurance and easy to do, thanks to this book. If you
doubt it, just stand someone against a white wall, and get them to rock slightly from side
to side, breath deeply, and relax. You will see the energy field around the body when you
look past the outline of the body, and concentrate on the white wall behind the person.
The "halo" is different from person to person, but I can see it clearly now on
everyone, whenever I want. |

He is going to have another book out soon on how to "FEEL THE AURA" which he did

I like the way this book is organized. It places psychic development in
the larger context of life, by explaining everything in terms of relationships:
relationships with other people, with the planet, and with our unique spiritual essence. The tone of the book is light, friendly, and fun. The exercises are explained in simple steps. And the authors give many real world examples of how psychic work can have positive impact on everyday life. All in all, it's enjoyable reading, and gives enough material for exploration to keep a
person busy for years. I've read some other books on the subject, this one's my favorite. |

The Etheric Double, by Arthur Edward Powell, first published in 1925, is
well written, clear, comprehensive on the chosen subject and probably completely
incomprehensible to modern educated readers. Incomprehensible, not because the writer is
obtuse, which he is not, but because the author builds a view of human existence that
depends on assumptions none but the most gullible would believe. The author's intention is obviously to make the world a better place for mankind by improving man himself. The method chosen is to explain that there are seven kinds of matter from which man is made. The three most coarse (solid, liquid and gaseous) making up the physical body, and the four more refined (super etheric, etheric, sub atomic and atomic) making up other bodies such as the Etheric Double, the Astral Body, the Mental Body and the Causal Body. Apparently man should be able to improve himself by strengthening and learning how to improve the communication between his several bodies. To give the author credit, the content is a compilation of works by previous students of the occult and is probably a lot easier to read than their works. The only reason I read beyond the first page was because the author was my father. The
mystery is: How could my father, who always insisted that logic and commonsense should
rule human behavior, how could he have written such balderdash. |

This book is a must for anyone interested in laying on hands
and in understanding the human energy field in general. Barbara Brennan gives substantial
background information concerning the disease process and how disturbances and imbalances
in the aura manifest in the physical body. She then gives in-depth techniques for
correcting these problems on a holistic level, including lucid examples of the ongoing
process of healing. My only complaint about this book is that it fails to address the highly subjective nature of higher perception, but those who are aware of auras should be able to relate her way of seeing with their own. Although it may not be the best introduction for the beginning healer, overall, this
book is an excellent addition to the shelves of intermediate to advanced healers, and it
will serve them for years as their practice of the healing arts continues. |

I read this book several years ago. Thank goodness as
validation for things that I had been experiencing for decades was finally explained in
full detail, with scientific research and support. I have been a practicing Registered
Nurse for 20 years now. These talents are owned by all...I say all and here Ms. Brennan,
with her talents realized, unabashedly and in a lovely way explains the magnificent
"protoplasm" the, "human being" as one of totality, a triad if you
will, mind, body and spirit. Alive, its own hospital, diagnostician, dietician, mentor,
psychologist, nurse, doctor, laboratory...and for goodness sakes all you have to do is be
quiet for a moment and listen to the movements within and about ones self and see the most
gorgeous elements of yourself. She gives dignity and credence to all this...enjoy. I
started healing 'self' the moment I stopped for a nanosecond and held myself in the quiet
to listen. Now to stop for that second is not enough....life walking in
"listening" I share purely with myself and all. |

I read this book first as a Doctorate Student. It disappeared
on a move. I was devastated because it had become my encyclopedia for healing. Amazing
book!! It gave me additonal insight into alternative healing. I learned the most basic yet
prophetic lessons on human existence and made so many notes and studied observations in
this book. This book has had the most profound impact on my thought patterns as a Doctor
(much more so than any required school text). I have spent my years studying human
healing. It dosen't stop at any certain persons defintion of healing. I find each unique
human has some new meaning to add to this process. This book will start you on your way to
understanding and loving all of man kind. |

If you are interested in self-healing of ANY part of your
person or are involved in the medical field, alternative medicine, hands on healing...etc,
then buy this book! (Buy "Light Emerging" also!) Most books on healing using the
human aura are flaky nonsense. In fact, most (not all) "New Age" books are
nonsense in my opinion. This book is a strong exception. I honestly believe that this book
will one day be considered a revolutionary text in modern medicine - that the techniques
outlined in this text will one day become standard practices in modern medicine. I might
add, I'm a very skeptical reader when it comes to non-traditional thought. I'm not some
flake running around with crystals on my neck "sucking up bad energy." I'm a
practicing mechanical engineer with a strong traditional educational background (incl.
grad degree) in critical analysis. I should also mention I've attended one of her healing
workshops and saw things that completely amazed me and also some things that seemed a bit
odd. However, overall I would certainly recommend going to one of her workshops. If
interested, you may wish to search for her web site under "Barbara Brennan School of

Shortly after reading the book I enrolled as a student in Brennan's
school. The school teaches the techniques of hands on healing, and prepares the student
for professional practice, but what I like most about the program is it's holistic
approach to personal healing: group therapy, physical rage work, childhood re-enactment
work, meditation, and hands on healing. The more of my "stuff" I've cleared, the richer my experiences in working with the techniques have become. The process itself gets the creative juices flowing. As a past time I tinker with writing music. By freshman year's end I was writing full songs without having to grope for them - lyrics and all. Great book. Great school. |

I liked this book a lot. It describes many different
characteristics of the human aura. What's more important, it describes how it reflects
your state of health in it; be it wellness or sickness, physical or otherwise. It also
describes the techniques that professional healers use in order to heal the patients. The
author also positions the healer as a complement (not as an opposite) to the physician. If
you asked me what I did not like in the book, I'd just have to say nothing. The author has
written another excellent book, "Light Emerging". Although it can be read alone,
I'd suggest reading "Hands of Light" first as that book build on, and extends on
the knowledge of her first book on the human aura. |

After my initial readings of the Lobsang Rampa books I was left with a
huge thirst for Human Aura information. When I read this book I had the inner feeling that
everything I was looking at was true! Page after page I could not wait to read what was
next. I can barely see a part of the aura. When I saw the color illustrations... what I
saw with my own eyes was clearly drawn and explained there! I have this book very deeply
in my heart for filling my Hands Of Pure And Divine Light! |

In the introduction to her book, Philippa Merivale invites you to join
her on a voyage of discovery through "bizarre and gruelling events" to
"astonishing and colourful pastures", "a whole new world of Colour and
Light". If that opening does not whet your appetite................! This book is a
study of the system of Colour Therapy through Aura Soma but not by any measure can it be
described as a text book. It is a clear and gentle introduction to the subject, peppered
with anecdotes and fascinating case histories, and illustrated with brilliantly coloured
photographs and line drawings. Philippa Merivale says: "Colour opens doors to hidden
rooms within ourselves" Strange, but true? Buy this book and find out for yourself. |

In clear-cut language, renowned parapsychologist W. E. Butler outlines simple procedures by which anyone can develop, perfect, and control the four basic psychic powers that we all possess. Using the strength of your intuition you can: * Read the Aura--Perceive and understand the meaning of the glowing * field of vital energy that surrounds all living beings. * Understand Psychometry--Read the emanations of all objects to learn * their historical and emotional significance. * Awaken Your Telepathic Powers--Transmit and receive thoughts solely * through your mind's Power. * Experience Clairvoyance--See the past, the future, and the boundless * present in vivid clarity.
Research continues to confirm the existence of paranormal powers. With these techniques you can develop your higher faculties, enriching your own life and that of others, and enabling self-transformation on a new and deeply satisfying level. These tools open the path toward a lifetime of exploration and discovery.

About the Author
Dr. Douglas Baker B.A., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P.
Douglas Baker, English born and raised in South Africa has done extensive scientific research into those hinterlands of the mind which one might call psi-semantics.
His transformative experiences during the Second World War, when twice severely wounded, set the pattern for his life long investigations into the Powers Latent in Man.
Douglas Baker graduated in the Arts & Humanities in South Africa and qualified in medicine at Sheffield University (UK) in 1964.
Having taught in the East End schools of London for 10 years, he began his incredible lecture tours of the Western world giving lectures and seminars in Esoteric Healing, Esoteric Anatomy, Esoteric Astrology, Esoteric Psychology and Metaphysics.
He, more than any other, set in motion the trends towards alternative methods of medicine which have transformed that field in Britain today.
As medical advisor to the De la Warr laboratories in Oxford, he undertook research into Biomagnetism and its effects on the human aura and dark matter, producing the book by the same name in conjunction with George de la Warr.
Through the years he has given more than 10,000 lectures and attracted people all over the world to his Esoteric Science Festivals staged in London, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, Canada and the United States.
His personal research and experimentation in Alchemy drew forth his book The Diary of an Alchemist.
Douglas Baker established Claregate College, first in America and later in England the 1970's and encouraged many hundreds of people to systematise their esoteric studies by attending seminars, and through the Claregate Correspondence Course.
His College's film faculty produced an exciting dramatic account of a period in the life of Paracelsus, the father of modern and complementary medicine. This million-pound production, with some of Britain's finest actors was released at the Cannes Film Festival in 1991.
His extensive esoteric works are said to be the largest collection in the produced by a living author. He has written over 100 books and his list of audio tapes extends to include 400 live lectures given around the world.
His books are now being translated into the 7 European languages.
Douglas Baker has led the field in esoteric astrology, producing with a team, his magnum opus, a Dictionary of Astrology for the 21st Century in three volumes. This is in addition to the already existing 11 volume set of text books on the same subject.
His most recent production is a comprehensive video course on Esoteric Astrology which explores the impact of astrology on all aspects of life and consciousness in a new and unique fashion, full of relevance to the modern and future world.
He is presently engaged in research work extending the discovereis in the field of Occult Chemistry, particularly dwelling on background radiation and special characteristics of the carbon atom and the role it plays in organic chemistry. He is also looking into the esoteric factors related to weightessness in space physiology.
His previous research into the Akashic Records is well know and documented. These have produced compelling answers to such mysteries as the true authorship of the works of Shakespeare.

This book is much more than just another "how to read the aura"
book. It contains exercises to energize and potentize the aura, cleaning it up, and
strengthening it until you can fulfill the true purpose of your aura, and focus powerful
divine cosmic forces through it to transform yourself and our world. Excellent, practical
exercises that WORK! It covers making the aura a powerful protective force,
accellerating the vibratory action of the aura to clear out negative thoughts and
emotions, the meaning of, and how to develop certain colors in the aura, and thereby the
qualities they represent. Certainly my favorite by far of the five or six aura books I've
read. Very potent and powerful stuff. I highly reccommend it! |

This book throughly describes health and sickness and how the human aura
reflects them. It also contains discussions on the hara and the core star, the holographic
view of life, creating the healer-physician team, the different stages of healing, and
in-depth discussions on how to heal through the seven levels of the human energy field. I
liked this book because it always describes a positive approach to healing, no matter what
the sickness may be. I was amazed to learn how the same health problem can holographically
show in different areas on your life, visible and otherwise; and how this very truth
itself determines the different areas in which the patient, along with him/her
healer-physician team, need to work on. She describes how the healing of a physical
sickness can bring wellness on the psychological and spiritual sides of the self; the
reverse can also happen (psychological and spiritual healing can enhance the physicial
well-being). There simply was nothing I disliked from this book. The author has written
another book, "Hands of Light", her first book on the human aura, and it
describes the human aura deeper but left out other areas described in this book, such as
the hara and the core star. |

In this book, I've taken a grounded, no-nonsense approach to spiritual healing which will let you access your intuition safely, practically, and best of all, easily.
The work of The Owner's Manual is explained in everyday terms, and is meant to be used in everyday situations. Each of the twelve major chakras is given its own chapter, and explained in terms that anyone can understand. What are the traits of a healthy first chakra? "A solid stance, a sense of quiet power, and an awareness of where you left your car keys!" Experiencing a spiritual glitch? Flip to the Troubleshooting Guide in the back for help with aura trouble, disorientation, panic attacks, or sixty other possible difficulties.
I've studied spiritual healing for twenty seven years, and I've seen too many immature, convoluted, and frankly unsafe spiritual practices foisted on an unprotected public. This book, for me, is a form of social protest. This work should not be arduous, mysterious, or teacher-driven. Intuition is a God-given skill!
Your Aura and Your Chakras: The Owner's Manual demystifies spiritual healing, and puts sane and competent energy tools directly into the hands of the reader.

I never thought "spiritual healing" and "kick butt"
could be used in the same sentence, but that's exactly what this owner's manual does. Or
should I say -- kicks first chakra! Ms. McLaren states that she has learned all she knows
about chakras directly from the chakras themselves, and has never read a book about the
chakra system. Well, I must have read them all, and even the best ones left me with a
sneaking suspicion that everyone owns an aura and chakras except me! "The Owner's
Manual" demonstrated to my great relief that this is not the case. Ms. McLaren
provides even the most spiritually stupefied like myself with accessible tools with which
to tune into our subtle energies, heal ourselves, take control of our lives, and have fun
in the process. I endorse her book with gratitude. |

This book explained auras, personality and how these can affect health in
a very simple and logical manner. Much has been written on auras, and I usually associate
the topic of auras with books stores who sell incense... kind of "New Age". I
think Ms. Ritberger, comes from a very intellectual, logical, almost scientific position.
Everything she said made perfect sense to me, and was not "far out" or hard to
believe. I am convinced, after reading this book, that my personality surely effects my
health. I wouldn't be surprised if it had everything to do with health. At a time when
much emphasis is placed on outer appearance, this book teaches one how to take care of the
"inside", which obviously relates to the external, and not the other way around.
If you truly care about accepting yourself, and want tools to help you love yourself more,
this book is fantastic. I also think that those in health-related fields should strongly
consider this book as a tool in helping patients take care of themselves. |

This book is full of mystery. The more you read, the more you want to
keep reading. It's about being old and wanting to return to youth again, like Señora
Consuelo was trying to do by "transforming" herself into her niece Aura. In
order to really understand this book, one has to read it several times before you can get
an idea of the essencial theme of the story. I loved the way Carlos Fuentes wrote this
story, it's full of mystery and every aspect of the novel has a hidden message and meaning

Aura is a story which can sometimes be confusing, and which has no basic
purpose. In the story, Felipe Montero is searching for a job and finds one reading and
correcting memoirs for Senora Consuelo. As the story progresses, Felipe discovers Aura,
the niece of Senora Consuelo, and sleeps with her, only to later sleep with Senora
Consuelo thinking her to be Aura. This is where the story ends, leaving the ending hanging
and the readers with a feeling that the story is not complete. This book, though short,
can be very confusing at times, does not seem to have any closure, and the fact that it
does not seem to have a basic purpose makes this a novel that is not for everybody. --This

--This text refers to the Paperback

--This text refers

As mentioned in the introduction, I purchased a pair of rather expensive aura goggles
a few years ago. When I decided to write this book, I wanted to include an aura viewing
device that was affordable. The book with the glasses rapidly became a best seller in
Canada, and can now be found around the world. When AURA GLASSES: YOU CAN SEE AURAS was
displayed at Trade Shows across Canada and the United States, its popularity was apparent
by the number of people who stopped to try them on. With minimal instruction, and under
rather unfavourable conditions, most people who tried the glasses had immediate success.
Feedback from the public via E-mail and letters has been most positive! I am pleased to be
the author of a book that helps others develop abilities that might otherwise lie dormant.

INTRODUCTION Several years ago, I attended a healing workshop on Long Island, New
York. The workshop dealt mainly with healing through the human energy field, or aura. At
that time, my desire to see the aura was much greater than my ability to do so. But help
was nearby. During a lunch break from the workshop, my new friend Alicia and I discovered
"aura goggles" in the local metaphysical bookstore. The goggles were very
expensive and came with no instructions, but we knew their purpose was to aid in aura
viewing. We discovered they were well worth their high price when we realized they
actually worked!
I have not seen a pair of aura goggles since, but have used mine extensively in classroom settings while teaching others to develop their aura viewing ability. With few exceptions, students were able to see the light around their classmates, and often much more.
Seeing auras, or attempting to see them can be exciting. But it is important to do so with reverence and respect, as we are entering the personal space of others. Without reverence, there is no valid reason to develop aura viewing ability. In fact, it is quite likely that an absence of reverence will impede your growth, since the ability to see and sense energy is the reward of an open heart.
For greater success, read through the book before trying the glasses and remember that a muscle requires exercise before it becomes strong. This is also true of your second sight.
GUIDE ENERGIES A dynamic, very successful business woman I know lectures often to the public about her area of expertise. I was amazed at her ability to encircle the audience with her energy in a very uplifting, non-intrusive manner. Every time I hear her speak, I am able to see two very distinct beings of light, one to her left and one to her right. Knowing her beliefs, I felt comfortable telling her what I was seeing. She was greatful for the information and confided that she is extremely fearful before each lecture, but once she begins, a sense of being guided takes over and her words flow freely.
My first conscious experience with guide energy occurred while discussing with my sister a spiritual healing she had just received from Larry Wayne, a gifted healer. As we spoke, a very bright band of light appeared around her physical body, much brighter than any aura I had ever seen. As I described this to her, the light brightened and seemed to move out of her body, forming a shape beside her. I stared in awe as I watched facial features form in what appeared to be an even brighter light than the body itself. An incredible uplifting feeling of love filled the room as my sister and I watched several beings appear and disappear for a period of twenty minutes or so. She saw them too!
When you see bubbles or streaks of light or a ghost-like form of light, you are in the presence of guide energy. The brighter the light, the "higher" the guide. You can feel the palpable essence of love and guidance that is unmistakable when this energy is present. This type of energy is very powerful and often serves the purpose of opening the heart chakras of all who are present.

I found this book many years ago and I love it,I keep it in my purse and
when Im stuck in line or in a waiting room I read it and I can understand more of whats
going on around me. Its simple, accurate and helps me to keep in the NOW. I recommed it
for anyone interested in auras and would like a manual to help keep in touch. |

I couldn't put this book down. It was given to me by a friend
and I read and finished it the next day. I really enjoyed the way Mr. Smith related his
situations and expierences to the reader. It was like he was talking to a friend and
letting them know what he experienced in his life. I did exactly as he instructed and I
saw my aura within a matter of minutes. I am really looking forward to seeing the
different colors that he described. Its like finding a new toy or learning a new secret
and you want to share it with everyone else. The book was really incredible and I thank
Mr. Smith for sharing his story in such a humorus and down to earth way. It was a
wonderfully written book. |

I bet the aura of the cover model looks just like that. As a red-blooded
male, I picked up the book because of HER. But when I started reading it, I was very
entertained by Smith's life story, which is really what this book is all about. Still, I'd
have to say that this stuff about auras seems pretty far fetched, until you follow the
instructions... Oh Boy, it seems like SOMETHING is happening, but I'll need more time to
practice on different folks before I'm sure that what I'm seeing is really there. Maybe if
I could find the girl on the cover... |

I was not prepared to be able to see the aura so clearly, but I saw it
easily. This book offers the best descriptions of how to see the aura I've ever seen. I've
also heard the author on the Art Bell show, and he seems really down to earth. |
